Berkeley Forge and Tool

I just came back from a lunch hour sketch at the corner of the Berkeley Forge and Tool plant. I talked to wonderful people who were having lunch sitting around me. It was hard not to be tempted by the food trucks that stopped by. I had a great time.

Berkeley Forge & Tool, felt marker, watercolors and color pencils, 9x12.

  1. I've thought of sketching there but was afraid management would chase me away. When I lived in North Berkeley our neighborhood association was always battling them for air pollution. I even testified in court against them. It's really freaky there at night--they work late and you can see the glow of molten metal in the dark.

    1. Well, the only people that I met were the real workers in blue overalls and they were very nice. We did not discuss fumes but we talked about the economy. I told them I would go back, the scene was too complicated to get it in the first try.

  2. It seems so honestly old-school industrial, I would like to sketch there - let me know if you are going to go again.
