"Northside" - a small university neighborhood in Berkeley
The anchoring business, as far as I'm concerned, is La Val's Pizza. My then-husband and I frequently took our kids there for an inexpensive and casual dinner. They loved it, because they got to climb all over the mechanical horse, play one of the two video games, and occasionally, take pictures in the picture booth. It was a very relaxed and tolerant place to hang out with children. So, really, this is a portrait of La Val's.
