Hats Off to Goorin Bros

I love sketching at Goorin's our neighborhood hat store. The only downside is that I often cannot leave without buying a hat! Thank you for crafting such wonderful hats, creating intriguing displays and letting us sketch in the shop.

Goorin Bros Hats

One of our favorite places to visit and sketch: Goorin Bros Hats on College Ave. Hats for big and small people, stylish, and everyday. They recently bought their own factory, after only 100 years or so!
Here are two versions of a sketch I did in the shop, the first one in the original sepia ink and the second one colorized electronically. Which one do you prefer?

I'm not sure, but think I like the sepia-only one best!

Goorin Bros. Hat Shop

Last Thursday night Mr. Willie Roberts, Shopkeeper of  the Goorin Brothers Hat Shop in the Elmwood District of Berkeley, hosted our sketching group. We enjoyed sketching the amazing hats in the store and seeing a demonstration of hat blocking. I am enamored with the combination of traditional craftsmanship  (Goorin Brothers was established in 1895) and contemporary art represented by these hats. Thank you Willie!
