On July 3rd, picnics, fireworks and The Oakland Symphony playing in the gigantic Craneway Pavilion in Richmond, California. A great evening! The Craneway was built in 1931 and was the Ford Company assembly plant, the largest auto assembly plant on the West Coast. Designed by the great industrial architect Albert Kahn, the
525,000 sq ft building utilizes natural light from a vast array of
skylights. It is next door to the Rosie the Riveter / WWII Home Front National Historical Park visitor center.
