Sketching at the Bay Bridge

From earlier this month. I love going back here to sketch. 

Between Storms

I was able to spend a quiet day in San Francisco, watching the Bay, and sketching a few scenes. 

SF Embarcadero Views

Every once in a while, I visit SF and sketch from one of my favorite spot overlooking the Embarcadero. I particularly like to try to sketch the Bay Bridge shadows on the water.  

That is Oakland in the far distance.

Four Views of the Bay Bridge

I spent a good part of the day  sketching the Bay Bridge from the San Francisco side (for a change). There is a glimpse of the Oakland cranes under the bridge.

This sketch shows the connection to Yerba Buena Island.

Sometimes the cables would catch the shifting light.

And sometimes they wouldn't so much.

Dismantling the Bay Bridge

The recent news of the delays in the dismantling the old Bay Bridge reminded me of my delays in posting my related sketches. I want to sketch (and post) the process as it proceeds over the years. Please see fellow sketcher Cathy's previous posts.

Walking On The Bay Bridge

The new eastern span of the San Francisco Bay bridge includes a bike/pedestrian path. The path gives you magnificent views of the new tower and a close-up of the old 1936 bridge which has not yet been demolished. It's a great walk/ride out over the bay with some great sketching possibilities. There are even benches along the way, I wish we had brought a picnic lunch.

Bay Bridge Lights from Ikea

I love going to the Ikea Parking lot to sketch. This time, we went inside.  

These are the views from the cafe'.

While I was disappointed that the Bay Bridge Light installation wasn't viewable from the East Bay,  I was  intrigued by
our view of other bridge lights against the atmospheric darks.  Please see earlier related  posts from fellow sketchers.
