The Pegasus, Berkeley Marine Center

The Pegasus, Dip pen and ink and watercolor, 9x12in.

Our Tuesday night sketching was unusually warm. It was dark and I could not see much anymore but I like how the sketch of the Pegasus turned out.

The Valley Clipper, Berkeley Marina

The Valley Clipper, dip pen and ink and watercolor, 9x12in.
I found a couple of fishing boats being painted in the yard of the Berkeley Marina. I sketched the Valley Clipper thinking I could do the other one the next day. It was too late, when I went back it had already left. I enjoyed talking to the fishermen who were doing the repairs, we talked about fishing, art and life.

Fishing Boats, Berkeley Marina

Fishing Boats, Berkeley Marina,
dip pen and ink and watercolor, 9x12in.
I spent some time at the end of the day drawing some of the Fishing Boats in the Berkeley Marina. I had to have in my sketchbook "The Happy H..."(I deleted the name because it was attracting improper advertising to the web site). It was moored by The California Dawn and the Harbor Patrol. I sketched until it was dark and cold, I took a photo and added the color at home.

Rainy Sunday, Berkeley Marina

Boats, dip pen and ink and watercolor, 9x12in.
I found a dry spot by the OCSC in the Berkeley Marina to draw some boats. The problem is that they were all facing away from me and it was difficult to make a decent composition.

The Fortune, Berkeley Marina

The Fortune, pen and ink and watercolor, 9x12in.
The Fortune is having some work done in the Berkeley Marina. I was going to draw something in the OSC yard but when I saw the name of this old sailboat I had to draw it. We all need some good fortune.

The Fortune was built in Hong Kong in 1967 and was found in Alameda by a gentleman from New Zealand who is repairing it planning to sail back home passing by Easter Island.

Labor Day, Berkeley Marina.

It's a quiet day around the Marina. Perfect for a nice walk and a sketch.
The Warden Johnston, Pen and ink and Cotman watercolors, 9x12.
