The Point Reyes, Inverness

The Point Reyes, Inverness,
dip pen and ink and watercolors, 9x12in.
I haven't been able to find the history of this abandoned fishing boat. It has been photographed and painted many times. While I was there trying to hold my dip pen steady against the wind several photographers rushed by, setting up filters, stabilizers and other technical aids to capture the view. The light was not dramatic as other times and the wind was so strong that it was difficult to walk straight. I colored the shadows on site but I finished it at home.

Drakes Beach Visitor Center, Point Reyes National Seashore

Early Navigation Exhibit,
pigment liner and watercolor, 9x12in.

Baleonoptera, pen and ink and watercolor, 9x4in
The Point Reyes National Seashore is one of my favorite places along the California Coast.
"A Natural Sanctuary, A Human Haven, From its thunderous ocean breakers crashing against rocky headlands and expansive sand beaches to its open grasslands, brushy hillsides, and forested ridges, Point Reyes offers visitors over 1500 species of plants and animals to discover. Home to several cultures over thousands of years, the Seashore preserves a tapestry of stories and interactions of people. Point Reyes awaits your exploration." says the Park's website. I agree.
