The Buddha and The Wisteria

The Buddha and The Wisteria, 9x12in.
It was the first warm evening in Berkeley (T-shirt warm!). The bees were busy at the wisteria even after dark. For an unknown reason I sat the Buddha at the edge of the page. It was a good pen drawing but I ruined it mixing it with watercolor. I then went over with gouache. I should do another one :)

Wisteria - a stellar year

Some wisteria is in full bloom, some is still to come, but whereever I see it, the bracts are copious and colorful. I find it hard to capture, all those tiny blossoms, so I just splash down some color and hope that  gives the feeling a little. The woman whose house this vine is at said the "wisteria papparazzi" came out recently to photograph their family all dressed in hats, with baskets and finery!
