Locke on the banks of the Sacramento River is a rare jewel. Founded in 1915 after the Chinese section of Walnut Grove burnt down it seems it has been stopped in time. If it weren't for the cars we could say that we are back in the early 1900's. As the website of
Locke points out
"Locke is no tourist trap, nor is it a ghost town. Its unusual, out-of-the-way charm is genuine. Perhaps it is this authenticity, without any hypocritical overtones, which brings so many out of town visitors to its doors."
